Priest in Charge

The Bishop of St Albans seeks to appoint a House for Duty (Sunday and two days) Priest-in-Charge for the Benefice of Braughing, Furneux Pelham and Stocking Pelham

The Benefice is situated in a rural area on the Hertfordshire/Essex Border close to the A10. All three parishes are comprised of pretty villages with beautiful but ancient churches and surrounded by farmland. All three PCC’s are hard-working and will be extremely supportive of our new incumbent. We fully understand that what we are hoping for may not be doable in the allotted time!

We are looking for someone who:

• is enthusiastic for rural ministry

• is friendly, caring, approachable and able to engage with parishioners of all ages.

• will build on what we have which works well eg Café Church, and develop new initiatives, especially those that will encourage children and families

• will reach out to our communities and put our churches at the heart of our three villages, building on and strengthening the links we already have

• will ensure our worship will be inclusive and innovative, meeting the needs of everyone, both those who prefer traditional services and those who like something more contemporary

• will help us become sustainable spiritually, financially and practically

• is approachable, flexible and fun, yet thoughtful and caring

• is visible, willing to attend events in all three villages and is prepared to arrange home visits as needed

• will engage with the Diocesan vision, ‘Living God’s Love’
