St Nic’s has been a home for generations in the centre ground of evangelical Anglicanism in the heart of the City of Durham. As part of the Church of England we have a diverse community of 300 regular Sunday attenders across all ages. Having recently been designated a resource church by the Diocese of Durham, St Nics is in an exciting time of both transition and growth.
We are seeking two faithful, enthusiastic and motivated Youth Missioners who will be committed to the flourishing of God’s church in our city of which St Nic’s is just one part.
One role will lead on justice issues, working with young people in areas of justice and discipleship, with the other leading on mental health and wellbeing. Both roles will be part of a new team, working with the newly appointed Prior of the Community St Cuthbert and Ministry Experience Volunteers, seeking to grow the church in discipleship, service and number.
For the Justice lead we would expect someone to bring experience of involvement in justice issues who is passionate about living out their explicitly Christ shaped discipleship in building the Kingdom of God through justice.
For the Mental Health lead we would expect experience of and /or qualifications in areas of counselling and pastoring young people. With a commitment to and understanding of safeguarding, you will be passionate about the wellbeing of young people and be involved in shaping a Christ based resilience for young disciples.
