The Methodist Church

Methodist Modern Art Collection Management Committee

The Methodist Council is seeking to appoint two creative and

committed volunteers as members of the Management Committee

of the Methodist Modern Art Collection.


Last year more than 30 thousand people saw touring exhibitions of

this Collection; one of Britain’s fi nest collections of modern religious

works, with more than 50 paintings, limited edition prints and reliefs

by leading artists of the last 100 years. The Collection is a

thought-provoking and inspiring outreach resource for the Methodist

Church, connecting with all ages, and interests from fine art

appreciation to spiritual exploration. The Committee members are

advocates for the Collection, encourage acquisitions, support tours

and advise on conservation.


Applications would be particularly welcome from individuals with

any of the following:

  • An understanding of mission, with an interest in the relationship between faith and art;
  • Experience of advocacy and Friends groups;
  • Curatorial and networking skills for supporting the exhibition programme;
  • Expertise in fundraising and marketing;
  • Proven ability with social media.

The Committee normally meets three times a year, one of which

is a two-day residential meeting, and for which all reasonable

expenses are paid, with electronic communication and working

groups convened as required in between.
