St Stephen’s, Southmead

Ref: JN007599

Job Description

Southmead is an estate in urban Bristol where St. Stephen’s is at the heart of the community. It is an exciting time to join this parish as full time vicar to lead the congregation in walking in, and living out, the love of God.

The church has flourished over the past six years and young families
worship alongside older members. There are several thriving community projects, often run in partnership with other churches. Worship style includes ‘Altogether Services’ alongside traditional worship and liturgy based services.

The urban regeneration of Southmead is giving St Stephen’s the opportunity to develop as a cornerstone of the community. We cannot wait to see how God will move in the parish over the coming years.

Are you keen to

  • Grow the church for God’s kingdom, lead diverse worship services and develop discipleship in a committed congregation?
  • Be visible in a community facing challenges and a time of redevelopment?
  • Invest in relationships with lay workers, a small ministry team and neighbourhood organisations?
  • Work in collaboration with an energetic PCC and communicate effectively with the wider church?

This role and parish offer

  • Ministry experience in an Urban Priority Area
  • An opportunity to lead a church at a crucial point in its growth, including a potential building project
  • Generous hospitality and fellowship
  • A church family committed to prayer, inclusive worship and being ‘stretched out of their comfort zone’
  • Parish office with administrative support
  • A purpose built rectory in close proximity to the church
