We are a thriving evangelical church where fundamental to our belief is the authority of the Bible as the inspired word of God alongside an honouring of the person, fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Our semi-rural parish is set in a beautiful location on the edge of Dartmoor, not far from the coast, within a local community of about 2,500 people. There are two churches about a mile apart, with the smaller of the two having a more traditional pattern of worship. The congregations comprise around 160 worshippers in total, with services in both churches every Sunday with a wide age range, but with a strong youth focus.
We have close links to the Church of England Primary School in the village, with a committed Christian majority on the governing body, and where the head teacher and teaching staff are also committed Christians.
We have a strong church leadership team of lay ministers, an assistant curate, a recently appointed full time youth worker, and two experienced church wardens, as well as many volunteers who help with the numerous activities within the life of the church.
There is a comfortable vicarage with beautiful views, and a large garden which would provide a suitable family home for the new Vicar.
We are looking for a new leader, who whilst being servant hearted, passionately believes the Bible to be the inspired word of God, and who has the prayerful vision to move both churches forward according to the Lord’s will. This is an exciting opportunity. We are prayerful that God will lead the right person to be with us here.
