Parishes of Tweedmouth, Spittal and Scremerston
The parishes of Tweedmouth, Spittal and Scremerston on the south bank of the estuary of the River Tweed in north Northumberland have been preparing to become one benefice, each parish retaining its own parish church, churchwardens and PCC.
We are searching for a skilled team leader to be the first incumbent of this new benefice who will lead the three parishes as they grow a distinct identity together. There is an Associate House for Duty priest based in Spittal and other ministers lay and ordained who support a mission and ministry team.
The new parish priest will be someone who is outward looking with the ability to relate to and build relationships with a diverse community and its institutions. They will be mission-minded and interested in exploring pioneering ways of expressing the Christian faith, able to develop innovative ministry with families, children and young people and to draw out the potential for ministry in all of God’s people. Above all, they will be someone who can encourage and inspire all in prayer, discipleship and understanding of God’s word.
