The Bishop of Kensington wishes to appoint a Vicar to serve at Christ Church, Kensington in Central London

London and Home Counties

Ref: JN009557

Job Description

Christ Church is a conservative evangelical church with a large and diverse membership, strategically positioned within Kensington. Through its two congregations it has a ministry both to local residents in Kensington, and to students and young professionals.

The PCC has passed a resolution under the House of Bishops’ Declaration seeking distinctive arrangements in relation to the ministry of men and women and is therefore looking to appoint a male minister to this post. The PCC wishes to remain under the episcopal oversight of the Bishop of Kensington.

The person appointed to lead the church into its next phase of life and growth will be able to demonstrate:

  • A godly, gracious, resilient character, coupled with the humble recognition of his own weakness and daily need of God’s grace.
  • A clear track record of faithful expository preaching, trusting in the sufficiency of Scripture for the task of equipping the saints.
  • Servant-hearted team leadership that is rooted in a recognition of his own giftings, alongside the ability to share ministry effectively with others in leadership, including women and men.
  • A wise and compassionate approach to pastoral care, a personal commitment to evangelism, and an ability to lead corporate expressions of worship with dignity and liveliness.
  • A passion for discipleship, with a track record in training and in discerning and developing the ministry of others.
