Job Description

Retford is a forward-looking heritage-based market town, with excellent transport links being situated on the East Coast mainline and Lincoln/Sheffield railway interchange. It has access to a range of civic and rural amenities and well-established community
engagement. Attractively set in the Idle Valley, Retford’s history is entwined with the Mayflower Pilgrims. The Vicar-designate will have a clear focus on growing the current congregation in the residential area of the town to the East of the River Idle (approximate population 11,000).


We are looking for someone:

  • Who will be passionate about teaching and preaching the gospel and would be at ease working in an open evangelical church
  • Who will develop diverse, growing, prayerful congregations both on Sundays and during the week that reflect the people of Retford
  • Who has a proven record of ability, enthusiasm and commitment to work with all ages
  • Who will bring renewed focus to the stages of making and growing disciples, especially the aspects around invitation, initiation and integrating into the congregation
  • Who is collaborative and will facilitate the gifts of others
