St Pancras Church, Euston Road (a central London parish church) is looking to appoint a Verger to work four days per week with shifts fixed by rota between Monday and Sunday; and St Pancras Church is looking to recruit casual vergers who can, if available, be called on to supplement the verger team from time to time.

St Pancras Church has established a pattern of communal worship and prayer serving those who live or stay in the parish and those who commute into or through the parish for work. St Pancras Church has formed a partnership with St James’s Church, Piccadilly and the churches are working closely together for the good of both parishes and their congregations.

Under the direction of the clergy, and the Senior Verger, the role of verger includes facilitating, participating in and contributing to the communal and worshipping life of the church. The essential requirements are to be self-motivated and proactive, being open with dealing with responsibilities; to have good communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people, at times in challenging circumstances; to be computer literate and confident in administration. It would be beneficial to have an understanding of the cycle of the church year and the liturgical practices that accompany it; to have excellent organisational skills with ability to undertake a variety of tasks and responsibilities. Previous experience as a verger would be advantageous but not essential.

St Pancras Church is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

St Pancras Church actively welcomes applications from people who are currently underrepresented in our community including people with global majority heritage, people with lived experience of poverty and people who identify as LGBTQ+.
