Three Key Roles

for the future of Lichfield Diocese

Location:

West Midlands

Recruiter:

Ref: JN013476

It is an exciting time in the Diocese of Lichfield as we develop our diocesan strategy and pursue our vision of a diocese that is purposeful about evangelism, engaging creatively with local communities, becoming more diverse and growing younger. We are keen to recruit three key roles to take this work forward.

Initial Ministerial Development Officer

We want to support those who carry the weight of leadership in our diocese, ensuring that all who are exercising frontline ministry are enabled to flourish as human beings and are equipped to face the joys and challenges of ministry, especially in the most demanding times.

Could you lead on providing ministry-enhancing learning opportunities for those in the early stages of licenced ministry – in particular our Readers and curates - in line with our Diocesan Strategy and Church of England national requirements?

The right candidate will be someone who has an understanding of the distinctive nature of lay and ordained ministry, is experienced in creating and delivering programmes of learning for Christian adults and is passionate about seeing ministers thrive in their ministry while being real and excited by the challenges that face ministry at the local level. You will be someone who has experience of working across a broad range of theological perspectives, is pastorally sensitive and skilled in working with conflict.

Local Ministry and Learning Platform Officer

Celebrating and sharing what is good in our existing ministry, and being courageous in naming what needs reimagining is at the heart of what we are trying to achieve as we work towards our strategic goals. The Lichfield Learning Platform, as a central resource, will enable us to equip and support the whole diocese in this venture.

Much of the ministry that takes place in our local communities is offered by those who are not in licenced lay or ordained forms of ministry. We want to support and equip personal discipleship and this wide range of ministry by providing a comprehensive suite of on-line learning opportunities that are easily accessible at the point of need.

We are looking to recruit a Local Ministry and Learning Platform Officer to lead the development of our diocesan learning hub by creating and sourcing content and maintaining the platform.

Whole Life Discipleship Officer

As part of our diocesan strategy, we want to ensure that every member of our worshipping communities has the chance to go deeper in their faith. We envisage the development of a culture of discipleship by creating an expectation that all members of our worshipping communities will have the opportunity to explore their faith outside of regular weekly worship.

Our Whole Life Discipleship Officer will lead on supporting our parishes, fresh expressions and chaplaincies to develop discipleship for all ages, especially through the establishment of small groups. They will bring a conviction that the journey of discipleship is relevant to all Christians, of any age.

If you want to join our existing committed team and have the knowledge and skills to fulfil any of these new positions, please download an application pack from the Lichfield Diocesan website – lichfield.anglican.org/vacancies or contact jo.durber@lichfield.anglican.org for an informal conversation with one of the team leaders.

As an equal opportunities employer, we particularly welcome applications from UKME / GMH candidates.

Closing date for all three roles: 6 April

Interviews: 15 or 16 April 2025

These roles are posts to which an Occupational Requirement under paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010 applies, the requirement being that the post holder is a practising Christian

Closing date: 06 April 2025
