Job Description

SUB-ORGANIST

£25,000 - £31,000 per annum

 

Durham Cathedral is looking for an exceptional church musician to join our talented Music Team to build on and further develop standards of musical excellence in the Cathedral’s worship. With a strong understanding of liturgical principles in close sympathy with the Anglican liturgical tradition, you will fulfil the role of principal musical assistant to the Master of the Choristers and Organist, and principal liturgical accompanist.

 

You will possess excellent skills as an organist, both as an accompanist and in the playing of voluntaries. You will apply your experience and leadership while training and inspiring the Choristers to sing to a high standard to fulfil their potential, in addition to training and inspiring professional adult singers and players.

 

As an effective team player you will possess the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively to deliver excellent outcomes in the musical life of the Cathedral

 

TENOR LAY CLERK

 

Durham Cathedral is seeking a talented singer to join our team of six Lay Clerks and six Choral Scholars from September 2019 to play an active and important role in the liturgical and musical life of the Cathedral.
