Job Description

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for two full-time, stipendiary, ordained ministers to work in partnership with each other and alongside deanery colleagues in shaping a new approach to rural ministry within the Harwich Deanery.


We are looking for pioneering leadership from two people who will share in the normal duties of parish priest across nine distinctive rural parishes in north-east Essex: Dedham, Ardleigh, The Bromleys, Little Bentley, Great Oakley, Tendring, Wrabness, Wix and Beaumont-cum-Moze.


We will appoint one of the Rural Missioners as Area Dean and the other as Deanery lead for developing discipleship and lay ministry.


What we are looking for in our two Rural Missioners:


  • A missional mindset to ministry that seeks every opportunity to grow the church numerically and spiritually
  • A willingness to embrace change and experience of leading and supporting others through change
  • A love and understanding of rural ministry as a ministry of both presence and place, combining creativity and innovation in shaping a new approach to rural ministry
