Residentiary Canon Precentor (Full Time)

The Bishop of Winchester wishes to appoint a full-time Residentiary Canon Precentor to join the Chapter of Winchester Cathedral.

The Canon Precentor will oversee the Liturgy and Music Department, collaborate creatively with the Director of Music to ensure choral excellence, and work with the Dean and other colleagues to discern and implement Chapter’s strategic vision for worship.

Stipend: Residentiary Canon Stipend is in accordance with the rates issued by the Church Commissioners for the Diocese of Winchester – in 2026/27 £36,730.

Working Hours: Full-time, flexible, in line with operational needs and the liturgical calendar, with one full day off per week

Contract: Permanent

Accommodation: Provided rent-free within the Cathedral grounds, with contributions towards utilities.
