The historic and very popular market town of Bedale is served by the ancient church of St Gregory. The church is very much embedded in and shapes the culture of the local community. It resources the smaller
parishes which together form this very special and beautiful benefice. The
Christian community in this place plays a significant role in social and civic engagement, contemporary social and political issues, highlighting hidden rural poverty and in promoting the Gospel. There is an excellent ministry to schools, tourism and walkers as well as the local population.
The PCCs, Patrons and Bishop are looking for an experienced
parish priest who will continue the excellent ministry and mission of the church and who will be a part of the transitioning of a 4th year
curate into their next role. We seek somebody with confident priestly
leadership and who will work collaboratively with clergy colleagues, ecumenical partners and will form wider partnerships and connections in order to promote ministry and mission and who will take an active role in shaping Wensley Deanery.
Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and home to RAF Leeming,
this stunning benefice is within very easy access to Ripon, Harrogate, Darlington, Leeds and York.
You will be supported by excellent Wardens, Readers, Children and Families Worker, retired clergy, an administrator and active church members. The young Diocese of Leeds is committed to your on-going training, development and well-being. A full driving licence is essential.
