Job Description

  • Exceptional Christian leader sought

  • Enabling women to flourish in God’s work

  • Based in Sydney, Australia

Founded in 1891, Mary Andrews College is uniquely poised to champion theological formation for women, inspiring faith in action through an applied theology of ministry and an enriching capacity to make the gospel intelligible. Named after Deaconess Mary Andrews, the College has offered Certificates and Diplomas in Theology and Ministry, under the Australian College of Theology, since 1991. The vision of the College is to see women flourishing in Kingdom work.

The Principal of Mary Andrews College provides Christian leadership to the College – spiritual, academic, strategic and operational. Following the announcement of Rev. Jackie Stoneman’s retirement, Anglican Deaconess Ministries is looking to appoint a new Principal of the College. The Principal will be an exceptional Christian leader, within the Anglican tradition, who has demonstrated a deep commitment to the theological formation of women, as expressed in the mission and vision of Anglican Deaconess Ministries.

The successful candidate will be a Christian with a mature faith and godly character, a communicant Anglican with an unequivocal commitment to reformed evangelical theology. They will have a wholehearted and proven commitment to the mission and vision of ADM and Mary Andrews College and will be required to affirm annually their commitment to the Theological Principles of ADM, and sign the College’s Statement of Belief. A well adjusted leader is sought, who can help team members flourish, while driving change, and influencing others. A pastoral focus, an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for theological education, and an ability to build community are key qualities. The ability to be an inspiration and role model for students is highly desirable.

As a minimum, an undergraduate level qualification in Theology, Divinity or Biblical Studies is expected. Ordination in the Anglican Church would be highly regarded, but not essential. Qualifications in education or, more specifically adult education, would be highly desirable.
