Priest in Charge

The Pocklington Group of Churches

Contract:

Permanent

Location:

Yorkshire and Lincs

Recruiter:

Ref: JN008439

Job Description

Based in and around the ‘Cathedral of the Wolds’, this is an opportunity to grow a new vision for ministry and mission in and around the market town of Pocklington in rural East Yorkshire. A great prospect for someone with vision and a heart for rural ministry.

  • We seek a leader who will concentrate on Pocklington whilst encouraging and supporting ministry in the villages. New housing estates in Pocklington present a real opportunity for outreach and growth.
  • We need a leader who will stimulate our worship, offer biblically-based preaching, foster a hunger for God, and help us sensitively to share our faith and know the adventure of following Christ.
  • We would value a leader who is comfortable with the social implications of the gospel; expressed, for example, through the food bank, fair trade and recognising needs outside the parish.

We offer:

  • An experienced and able ministry team, including a permanent Deacon, 5 clergy with PTO, 5 Readers plus another in training, and a sizeable team of recognised parish assistants and parish visitors
  • 18 hours of administrative support per week in the Parish Office
  • A baptism team, led by the Deacon; an Open the Book team and volunteers for other missional activities eg Little Saints and Holiday Saints
  • A varied range of worship services, and a willingness to engage with new ideas
  • Good links with the local schools and within our ‘Churches Together’
  • A fairly modern (1960’s) 4 bedroomed vicarage with an open-plan kitchen and sensibly-sized garden
