If you are looking for your Sea of Galilee and if your spirituality is fed by God in creation, it may be that God is calling you here. The beautiful
benefice of Washburn and Mid-Wharfe, in the Harrogate deanery
comprises six churches which serve small villages, hamlets, scattered
dwellings and farms. Four reservoirs, rolling hills and Washburn
Heritage Centre make this a popular place for walkers and visitors. The parishes are praying for a priest who will come and live among them – who will inspire the faithful, develop their discipleship and pilgrimage, strengthen them as Christians serving the world and making a difference and who has the imagination and creativity to engage with tourists and walkers.
With easy access to Otley, Harrogate, Leeds and York, this benefice
enjoys the best of worlds.
You will be supported by committed and very capable Wardens and Reader, retired clergy, and an administrator. Throughout the vacancy, the Benefice has been served by an excellent SSM who has brought the PCCs together to meet on one evening, six times per year, significantly reducing PCC meetings for the incumbent and has piloted a new pattern of services. The Benefice now requires an incumbent to move it forward
in ministry and mission. The young Diocese of Leeds is committed to your on-going training, development and well-being. The Asquith
vicarage is spacious and warm with lovely views. A full driving licence is essential.
