St Barnabas is a large, modern, welcoming and inclusive church that sits in the central Anglican tradition. We have a strong musical and choral element to our liturgy. Our parish choir, which has a membership of around 70 adults and young people, is at the heart of our collective worship. Christ’s Chapel (c.1616) in the centre of Dulwich Village offers worship using the Book of Common Prayer.
The organ at St Barnabas was built during the construction of the new church between 1992-1996 by Kenneth Tickell & Company. The organ at Christ’s Chapel, built in 1760 by George England, was restored in 2009 by William Drake and remains one of the best organs in the area.
We are looking to appoint a person of mature and open character, who is resilient and robust and has a good sense of humour. He or she should be an experienced and professional musician with a vision for music ministry in churches who:
• is an excellent organist and skilled choir director
• can work collaboratively and communicate effectively
• can plan music that engages the whole congregation in worship
• understands liturgy and is committed and reliable.
