St Nic’s has been a home for generations in the centre ground of evangelical Anglicanism in the heart of the City of Durham. As part of the Church of England we have a diverse community of 300 regular Sunday attenders across all ages. Having recently been designated a resource church by the Diocese of Durham, St Nics is in an exciting time of both transition and growth.
Prior of the Community of St Cuthbert
We are seeking a missional leader for this newly created post to lead a movement of discipleship renewal in the deanery and diocese of Durham.
The Prior will oversee and lead a movement of lay missional disciples meeting together as spiritual support groups seeking to live under a common rule of life aimed at growing the Church in Durham in discipleship, service and number.
With a vision of evangelism through discipleship the Prior will seek to grow the community in a variety of contexts and parishes across the diocese, overseeing the formation, enabling and release of spiritual support groups - resourcing their growth through teaching and modelling around the five rhythms of grace of: prayer, study, hospitality, justice and evangelism.
Open to both ordained and lay women and men this role in a unique opportunity to lead a movement of discipleship renewal as part of a supportive parish based team and community at the heart of Durham City.
