Job Description

Mission and Community Engagement Officer Location: Methodist Church House (London), Queen’s Foundation (Birmingham), or Cliff College (Calver).

Salary: £36,000-£39,000 (Terms and conditions for Methodist Ministers will apply)

Do you have a passion for mission, community engagement, and culturally relevant evangelism? Do you have experience helping existing churches move towards health and growth by focusing on the most important things, taking risks, and building relationships with unaffiliated people?


The Connexional Team of the Methodist Church are looking for an experienced leader and practitioner to serve as the Mission and Community Engagement Officer. The job entails partnering with mission and evangelism enablers and other leaders across the country to support congregations and regions of the church that want to change and grow through outreach to their communities.


The right person will be an adventurer and encourager who can inspire, come alongside, lead, coach, and build spiritual energy with others who are committed to the joyous hard work of church and community transformation. S/he will have strong proven ability and success in equipping congregations and leaders for vibrancy and renewal; vision casting and ministry growth; leading mission and managing change; leadership recruitment and development; and event planning. An incisive understanding of current cultural and ecclesial realities, a genuine interest in and openness to diverse people, excellent teaching and communication skills, and a capacity to analyse complex situations and build detailed, practical programme for varied contexts are highly desirable characteristics.
