Ref: JN008629

Job Description

The Bishop of Southwark wishes to appoint an ordained priest to this exciting new post to develop the ministry of curates in the richly diverse Diocese of Southwark where we celebrate our differences, speak well of each other and have a passion for social justice.

Southwark is committed to maintaining the strength of stipendiary ministry and to our parishes, taking forward the expansion of both lay and pioneering ministry. The formation and training of our curates is central to this. We seek to appoint an IME2 Lead who will be inspirational in accompanying our stipendiary and self-supporting
curates through their initial years in ministry.

For this new post we are seeking an ordained priest who will have:

  • A passion for the development of colleagues in ordained
ministry evidenced through knowledge and/or experience
  • A sound base of theological and ideally educational/adult
learning knowledge with a willingness to develop further.
  • Evidence of working successfully with a wide range of church traditions and styles of ministry.
  • A demonstrable interest in, and experience of training and
    supporting clergy
  • Experience of parish-based ministry

The postholder reports to the Bishop of Southwark. The Diocesan Secretary leads on executive delivery and there will be a review of IME2 at 18 months.

If you think that God may be calling you to this role and you would value an informal conversation, please do get in touch with David Loft our Director of HR (david.loft@southwark.anglican.org)
