September 2025 for one year fixed term
Based in the stunning setting of the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine’s Abbey, a World Heritage Site, The King’s School is one of the oldest and most prestigious Schools in the country with an enviable record of academic excellence and achievement and strong Christian tradition.We require a Graduate Assistant to work with the school’s two full time ordained Chaplains to support the Chaplaincy programme throughout the term time. The successful candidate will support the Christian values of the school and will help to nurture students from faith
backgrounds and those from no faith background. They will help to develop a sense of community and will embrace the diverse spiritual and moral culture of the school. They will support students in their search for meaning and purpose and enable them to reach beyond themselves to the transcendent.
Role Requirements
Ideally the candidate will have:
- The ability to relate to students and staff from a variety of religious backgrounds and none
- The ability to engage with young people and staff who face a variety of personal challenges
- A strong academic degree in any subject
- Evidence of leadership in a Christian context
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong IT skills
- The ability to take the initiative and to be flexible
- The ability to be a good listener, approachable, relatable
Applicants will need to have a non-judgemental, calm and confident approach as well as a firm foundation in the Christian faith (being a member of a Church that is part of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland).
The post is for one year, term time only. Accommodation is provided. Full board during term time.
