We are seeking a new Rector who is willing to build on the opportunities and take on the challenges of an active church with about 90 communicant members. The surrounding communities offer the potential for growing the church in spirituality, community involvement and numbers.
Largs is a highly desirable place to live, a seaside town of about 11,000, with transport links to the islands, Glasgow, and the Clyde Coast. Our Rectory is a modern bungalow, recently refurbished, and ready for redecoration to the taste of the incumbent.
The Rector is supported by a competent and effective Vestry, pastoral and worship teams, and a warm inclusive congregation. Professionally s/he has access to neighbouring diocesan clergy, other clergy in Largs, and the diocesan office in Glasgow.
Christianity is alive and well in Largs, but of the other 7 churches in Largs, three are thriving and two have been closed, so we are aware that there are many people feeling a bit lost. Ecumenical relations are good. There are opportunities to build on initiatives which have been successful in the past, but need new ideas and creativity to make them more relevant to young families and those seeking a spiritual home.
We are looking for a Rector who will lead us towards our 5 year vision as given in the profiles.
Enhanced disclosure will be required and a driving licence is desirable.
Application form, Congregational and Rector’s profile, video of church and grounds and PowerPoint of Largs are available on our website by clicking the 'apply for this job' button below.
