The Diocese of Guildford is seeking a passionate and visionary Programme Lead to lead its Foundations in Ministry (FiM) programme - a dynamic and growing initiative that equips lay leaders for transformative ministry in parishes, chaplaincies, and beyond.

 

FiM is a two-year formation journey designed to help participants discern their calling, deepen their theological understanding, and develop practical leadership skills. The Programme Lead will be responsible for the strategic delivery and ongoing development of the course, supporting a network of trainers and tutors, and working closely with clergy and church leaders to embed lay ministry in the life of the local church.

 

Some of the key responsibilities:

  • Delivery of the FiM programme, including both in-person and online learning.
  • Recruit, train, and support a network of tutors and trainers to deliver high quality course content.
  • Build strong relationships with Clergy and Church Leaders to ensure effective pastoral support and deployment of Lay Associate Ministers.
  • Promote the programme across the diocese and support participant recruitment.
  • Organise venues, resources, and the annual Lay Ministry Celebration Service.
  • Working with the E-Learning Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate content on the training portal.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Educated to degree level with an understanding of church life.
  • A gifted communicator and relationship-builder
  • Skilled in training, mentoring and team leadership, comfortable working with digital learning platforms (e.g., Moodle)
