Hymns A&M is a charity trading in book and newspaper publishing, bookselling and distribution. We have award-winning apps, many digital publications, including a weekly podcast, and a growing events programme – both hybrid and webinars. We are a small, friendly team – with some hybrid working (office based in central London EC1) –

Events assistant

This is a brand-new position to support our growing portfolio of events – this is a busy, varied role where you’ll be working with speakers, venues and suppliers in delivering great events both in-person and online. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent communication, strong organisational skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm, creativity and a positive team ethic as well as the ability to work on your own initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of our events programme both hybrid and webinars
  • Liaising with speakers, venues and others as required
  • Supporting administrative arrangements for events including travel and accommodation
  • Supporting audio and film broadcast
  • Communication and liaison with HAM staff
  • Maintaining and updating event websites
  • Using established systems, managing ticket sales and responding promptly to customer queries
  • Support on marketing planning as required

Key Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Key is attitude and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational, language and administrative skills, and the ability to implement efficient processes as new tasks evolve
  • The skill and confidence to build good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attitude who will thrive in a hybrid working environment
  • Basic IT skills essential, including knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Ideally, some experience editing and updating websites

Salary levels: c£25K pro rota.
Hours: Part-time: approx. 2 days per week.
Hybrid working is fine with occasional attendance at our Barbican, London EC1 office and attendance at our in-person events. This will involve occasional out-of-hours working and overnight stays away from home, for which TOIL is granted
