Worcester South East Benefice

Location:

West Midlands

Ref: JN006878

Job Description

Parish of St Martin with St Peter, Worcester WR5 2ED

www.stmartinsworcester.org.uk

The successful candidate will enhance the worship and ministry of a church community known in the area for a high standard of traditional music, with four-part choral singing currently at most services. We are in the process of developing the diversity of the music at St Martin’s, so the director will also be involved in the exciting programme of exploring contemporary/informal music styles and repertoire.

The organ is an outstanding three-manual instrument in excellent order, and the ability to play the organ to a high standard is essential.

A full specification of the organ can be downloaded from here:

Responsibilities include taking choir rehearsal (currently every Friday evening), playing at Sunday services (currently twice each Sunday), on holy days and festivals and at occasional services. There are also weddings and funerals for which separate fees are payable.

There will also be the opportunity to contribute to running the established recital and concerts series at St Martin’s. Please note however that this is optional, and not a requirement of the position.

The ability to work collaboratively with the Rector, service leaders and choir is essential.

The position is available with the offer of a one-year, part-time renewable contract. Remuneration will be in line with RSCM guidelines for “Main Town”, according to skill levels, experience etc.

Closing date for applications: Friday 1st March 2019
