Director of Music
All Saints’ Church, Odiham, Hampshire.
We wish to appoint a first-class organist as our Director of Music from September 2017. A key element of this important appointment is the flexibility we can offer regarding the timetable of Sunday services and corresponding rehearsals since we already retain both a part-time choir director and an assistant organist.
The monthly service schedule at All Saints comprises:
1st Sunday: 9.45am Family Worship and occasional 6.30pm Choral Evensong.
2nd, 4th, (5th) Sundays: 9.45am Holy Communion (CW).
3rd Sunday: 9.45am Mattins (BCP).
Choir rehearsal: at present Thursdays 7.30-9pm.
The Director of Music, while responsible for delivery of this
programme, would have discretion to divide the duties within his or her team although will be expected to play for at least two Sunday services each month which may include Choral Evensong and the major services of the church calendar.
All Saints is a thriving village church of exceptional quality following completion of comprehensive reordering; it is perhaps the finest concert venue in north Hampshire. With its long musical tradition and the new 23-stop Goetze & Gwynn organ it regularly attracts cathedral organists, and our four-part, robed choir of 24 has a wide repertoire and an extensive music library.
While guided by RSCM pay scales (which may be supplemented by regular wedding services) we are anxious to find the right candidate and can consider subsidised travel. The post may suit someone wishing to supplement his or her chosen career but needing flexibility to accommodate other work commitments.
We invite candidates attracted to this special position to apply by email with CV attached to the Reverend Alison Brown
