Manchester’s landmark city centre Parish Church seeks a Director of Music.
We offer a fine organ, SATB robed choir, regular recitals and other possibilities
in a city with a very rich musical life in which the church plays a
prominent role.
Manchester city centre is one of the most vibrant places in the
country. St Ann’s marks the geographical centre and is the focus of elegant St Ann’s Square.
Music is an essential in our life. The Director of Music works with an
Assistant Director and other church staff, including the clergy and Church Manager, to provide excellence in musical worship. He or she directs an SATB robed choir and plays the fine four-manual organ last rebuilt by George Sixsmith in 1996.
There is along-established organ recital series which goes back to 1925. The church is venue to concerts provided by external agencies,
including the RNCM and Manchester Jazz Festival. There is a new
relationship with the Manchester HeartEdge Choral Scholars. These connections place the Director of Music as a participant in one of the country’s most active music environments.
