Dewsbury Minster seeks a gifted musician, with a passion for God, music and worship, to serve as its new Director of Music.
Dewsbury Minster is a church rooted in tradition having been established some 1400 years. It is however a modern, vibrant church serving the community on a daily basis. We are looking for a Director of Music who can encompass that tradition, respond to current needs, yet take us into the future. We have a wide spectrum of worship needs ranging from traditional to informal/contemporary music styles.
We have the following instruments:
A 63 draw-stop, three manual pipe organ built in 2007 by J. M. Spink of Leeds using parts of another instrument built originally by Booth of Wakefield and enlarged by Conacher of Huddersfield. A detached console on a mobile platform permits its use in various locations within the church. A MIDI interface to allow the recording and play-back of music.
A grand piano in excellent condition supplied by Besbrode of Leeds .
The person appointed will be responsible for playing for Sunday morning and evening services, occasional ‘special’ services, alternate Monday evening choir practices, and continuing the musical tradition at major Christian festivals, which may include bringing together other musicians, instrumentalists and soloists.
The position is available immediately.
Remuneration is in line with RSCM rates. There would be the opportunity to arrange recitals and concerts plus fees from occasional weddings and funerals.
