Continuing Ministerial Formation Officer and Lay Ministry Development Officer

North East

Ref: JN009011

Job Description

As a diocese, we want to grow in encouraging and supporting the gifts and vocation of the whole Body of Christ, and these posts are a key part of our commitment to support ministry and help people of all ages find their place and role in God’s work in the world.

Continuing Ministerial Formation Officer

This post combines responsibility for the ongoing training for all licensed ministers (clergy and Readers) with responsibility for nurturing their ongoing formation as disciples of Jesus Christ.

As Continuing Ministerial Formation Officer, you will ensure that there is a rich pattern of training opportunities to develop skills and offer tools for the tasks ahead, and you will also help nurture and support licensed ministers in their faith and vocation.

You will be someone with a keen theological mind, whose deep faith is rooted in theological reflection in everyday life. You will also have experience of helping others to grow in faith and a track record of encouraging the vocations and ministry of others.

Lay Ministry Development Officer

As we move into a new phase of our life as a diocese, we want to encourage and release the gifts of all God’s people for a richer and deeper mission and ministry in, to and with our local communities.

In this post you will be responsible for implementing the insights of ‘Everyday Faith’ and ‘Kingdom Calling’, encouraging a wider sense and understanding of vocation, and for encouraging and developing authorised and other lay ministry.

You will be someone who is an advocate for the vocation of the whole people of God, and will have experience of encouraging others to grow in faith and ministry. You will be theologically grounded, able to teach others, with a commitment to the ongoing formation of disciples.

For an informal conversation about either post contact the Director of Mission and Ministry, the Revd Canon Rob Saner-Haigh, 0191 270 4112
