Location: Methodist Church House (London)


Salary: £36,000-£39,000 (Terms and conditions for Methodist Ministers will apply)


Do you have expertise in describing and communicating the particularity of the Christian faith in compelling ways that capture the attention of contemporary people? Do you have a passion for imaginative teaching, intelligent writing, and creative resource development at the intersections of faith and culture? Can you help people both reflect deeply and act boldly?


The Connexional Team of the Methodist Church are looking for an experienced thought-leader and discipleship developer to serve as the Contemporary Apologetics Officer. The job entails helping people understand and personally integrate the foundations of Christianity so that they can confidently speak of God and share faith with others.


The right person will be an excellent communicator who works creatively and constructively across a range of contexts and media, using wisdom, scholarship, spiritual joy, and robust cultural competence to bring lucidity and nuance to the mystery of God. S/he will have proven experience in evangelism, moving people from learning and ideation into positive action and practical experimentation.


S/he will treasure the multifaceted ways that faithful people think and speak of God, and will delight in skilfully equipping and encouraging them to act from where they actually are. Critical thinking and writing, an ability to develop training modules and plan conferences, a love of stories and a gift for story-telling, and experience in communications and/or social media strategy are highly desirable characteristics.
