Corpus Christi College, Cambridge was founded in 1352 by the local Guilds of Corpus Christi and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The college invites applications for the position of Chaplain, to start in August or September 2020. The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension for a further two years.
The Chaplain will foster our communal life, and make an important and integral contribution to pastoral and welfare provision in this small and close-knit College, working with Undergraduates, Graduates, Fellows, and Staff, regardless of faith or tradition. In conjunction with the Dean of Chapel, the Chaplain will conduct the majority of Chapel services, and will organise events and programmes of religious and spiritual instruction. The College Chapel has a strong choral tradition. Since the 1920s, its liturgical and theological tone has been broadly within the Liberal Catholic tradition of the Church of England.
The College is a place of academic excellence, and the Chaplain will have some opportunity to pursue research and writing. The Chaplain will be elected to a Fellowship of the College and membership of the Governing Body. The stipend will be based on the current Ely Diocesan Incumbents’ rate. Suitable accommodation will be provided. The Chaplain will be a graduate, and a priest of the Church of England, or of a Church in full communion with it.
