Job Description

Methodist Independent Schools Trust (MIST) is a nationwide educational charity which has varying degrees of responsibility for twelve independent schools in the UK and engages in a range of ways with six more. The MIST schools have a wide geographical reach with more than 6000 children on roll and works closely, through the Methodist Schools Committee with a Multi Academy Trust (the Wesley Trust) that MIST helped to establish and a larger group of Methodist (or Methodist/Anglican) primary schools.

For further details of MIST and the schools please visit the website:

MIST is seeking to appoint a new Chair with effect from 1st September 2020 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to lead the Trust and ensure that it fulfils its legal and fiduciary duties and acts always with high standards, in a manner that is consistent with the policies and values of the Methodist Church. The appointment, which is formally subject to approval by the Methodist Conference, is based on a three-year renewable term.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader with a personal Christian commitment, and commitment to independent education, who is capable of supporting theologically the role of our schools in the Church’s wider mission to the world, delivering high quality all-round education for children and young people.
