St John’s Cathedral offers an exciting opportunity for an Anglican priest to experience Anglicanism within an Asian context. The Cathedral parish consists of the Cathedral and three daughter churches, all within a liberal Catholic tradition, and served by a clergy team of seven. This is a busy international parish with 2,200 communicants every Sunday, located in Central, the heart of Hong Kong. We have recently completed a strategic visioning process and we are looking for additional team member to help us move the vision forward. The post on offer is:

Cathedral Chaplain and Priest-in-Charge of Emmanuel Church (Pokfulam)

Emmanuel Church is a daughter church of St John’s Cathedral in the diocese of Hong Kong Island in the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (Anglican province of Hong Kong & Macau).

Emmanuel is a small English-speaking congregation in the ‘liberal Catholic Tradition’, worshipping in the beautiful neo-gothic Bethanie Chapel in Pokfulam, Southern District of Hong Kong Island. Our congregation is mixed, consisting of local Chinese and expatriate members. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and friendly community that welcomes families and young children. We value our rich liturgical life which is centred around the celebration of the Eucharist in a traditional but relaxed manner.

We are praying for a priest with a zeal for souls and a pastoral heart to lead us.

Knowledge of Cantonese or Mandarin is desirable but not essential.
