This is an exciting time in the life of The Ascension and St Thomas’ in the benefice of Derringham Bank, Hull. Our Church is excited about what God is doing amongst us and what our future holds. A new vicar was licensed in January 2024 with the purpose of working with the existing church family and a team moving from St Michael Le Belfrey, York (a charismatic, evangelical church) to do a Church Plant Revitalisation, and work towards becoming a Resourcing Church. We are seeking an Associate Vicar to help us discover God’s vision for how we can live Christ’s story in our communities. Alongside usual clergy duties in collaboration with the Vicar, the Associate Vicar will have a particular focus on mission and discipleship among children, young people and families and will oversee the development of engagement with, and provision for children and families at the Sunday morning service. We are looking for an Associate Vicar who will:
Envision us for church planting and revitalisation.
Enable and equip us to reach families and younger generations.
Line manage our Youth and Community Pioneer as they set up a Youth and Community Centre
Help us to reach those we currently do not.
Teach the Bible well and make a priority of growing disciples.
Embrace the variety of worship across our churches and diverse community.
Embrace collaborative ministry.
