Associate Archdeacon of Berkshire

London and Home Counties

Ref: JN008237

Job Description

The Bishop of Reading is looking for a colleague in the Reading Episcopal Area who has a cool, clear head and a compassionate heart; an eye for detail and a broad perspective; and an ability to work collaboratively and decisively, to share with her and the Archdeacon of Berkshire in the spiritual and practical leadership of God’s people in this vibrant part of the Thames Valley.

Our new Associate Archdeacon will be a member of a forward looking and creative Area Team committed to our common vision to be a Church that is more Christ-like – more contemplative, more compassionate and more courageous – for the sake of God’s world.

If you have a commitment to the pastoral care and welfare of the clergy and their families; enjoy finding creative solutions to the day to day challenges facing the church; are able to see mission opportunities, can make things happen and are exploring a vocation to archidiaconal ministry in an environment in which you could flourish and contribute, we would love to hear from you. This is seen as a development opportunity for the right candidate and is a designated interim post for three years, with the expectation of a further three years subject to review.

This post will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and right to work in the UK checks.
