Salary: £45,000-£47,500 plus benefits (experience dependent)

Oxford (37.5 hours per week)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Chaplain & UK Director to join our growing team to lead our UK ministry, communicating the Christian gospel and increasing The Zacharias Trust's visibility and impact.

The Zacharias Trust is a UK registered Christian charity with a friendly, welcoming culture and a warm working atmosphere. Our  organisational vision is to help the thinker believe and the believer to think. We also provide training to students via the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics.

If you want to play a pivotal role in the strategic leadership of our UK ministry, its missions and its development, and to become a member of a stimulating Christian community, this could be the right  opportunity for you. The successful candidate would also be expected to support the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics Students and to lead and manage the spiritual formation and activities of OCCA  Fellows, to be involved in specific activities of the Trust and OCCA,  throughout the academic year including leading missions, evangelistic activities, training programmes and the Associates Programme, to develop new material and contribute to writing and media programmes.

Requirements for the role are as follows:

  • Minimum academic requirement of degree level qualification, including graduate or postgraduate qualification in theology. Masters or Doctorate level qualification preferred.
  • Significant experience of a variety of faith-based speaking environments (large meetings, conferences, lectures, small groups).
  • Experience of working with students on faith-based issues and providing pastoral care/ moral support.
  • Experience of producing effective published materials for
    Christian and secular media.
  • Significant experience in the training and practice of evangelism and recognised ability as a Christian apologist.
  • Experience of leadership/management of others, proven team building ability and pastoral and spiritual mentoring.
  • Good numeracy skills, ideally with experience of budget
    management.
  • Open, honest and having integrity.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to contribute to the working life and environment of a large dynamic team.
  • Able to work on own initiative and pro-actively solve problems as they arise.
  • Able to evidence excellent written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible attitude, willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
