The Upper Itchen Benefice

Priest in Charge of Beauworth, Bramdean, Cheriton, Hinton, Ampner, Kilmeston, Tichborne.

These villages are in an area of outstanding natural beauty, lying to the east of Winchester, astride the A272.

The style of worship id broad, from BCP to themed children's services. The churches play a central role in the local communities and act as a catalyst for a network of voluntary services.

The rectory is in Cheriton, which has a flourishing primary school. There are excellent secondary schools in the area.

The Benefice is looking for a priest who is:

  • A person of prayer
  • An able and articulate preacher and teacher of the Gospel
  • Able to guide and encourage all ages in their faith,
  • Able to encourage the ministry of others.
  • A diplomatic leader, sensitive to the needs of individual parishes while seeking harmony across the benefice.
  • A minister who embraces both the new and the traditional forms to worship.
  • A person with a sense of humour, interested in the people they serve.
